Build Your Knowledge, Build Your Practice with Dylan Berstein
Have you ever wondered just how much there is to know about yoga?
Well, there is no clear answer to how much we can learn from this ancient practice and its relationship to ourselves. What is clear is that dedicated, long-term yogis and enthusiastic beginners alike are always interested in opportunities to learn more. During his extended stay in Bangkok, Dylan Bernstein will offer two special classes, each of which will call on traditional tools to expand our awareness and deepen our practice. These won't be led vinyasa classes, instead they will be workshops in which all participants are encouraged to add to the discussion and the questioning that are keys to amplifying one's understanding of yoga. Talks will be held in English with participants offering translation as they are able. Payment for these distinctive classes is to be arranged separately from your usual class pass. Please contact Dylan or Yoga Elements staff with any questions and do consider taking advantage of these unique chances to develop your perception of the infinite field of knowledge.
Yoga Sutra Study Group
4th Oct - 22nd Nov, Thursdays, 12:45 - 2:45 pm
What is Yoga? In this class, Dylan will lead an exploration of Patanjali's essential definition of Yoga. The group will examine the Yoga Sutra, looking to create clear and simple understandings of this venerable doctrine. We will chant a little each session but primarily the class will dive into the Sutra's teachings, discuss them, and relate them to our lives and our practices. Hopefully you will enjoy this opportunity to deepen your appreciation of the classical views of Yoga. The class will run for eight weeks, starting in October. All are most welcome to drop in casually but genuinely interested students are encouraged to attend every session to gain a comprehensive awareness of the subject matter.
Cost: 2,500 baht for all sessions (8 week course)
Or 400 baht for drop-in
Pranayama Sadhana and Asana Alignment Workshop
9th Oct - 27th Nov, Tuesdays, 12:00 - 2:00 pm

Come join Dylan as he guides a complete and balanced pranayama practice, emphasizing the traditional techniques of breath control. This practice alone is known to improve all aspects of one's well being and definitely provides a great support to a physical vinyasa practice. In addition, this weekly class will investigate details of asana. Using the workshop and group inquiry format, we'll study poses and their variations, noting specifics of physical alignment as well as the energetics inherint in the asana. Students will get the chance to experiment with giving others adjustments as well as deeping their own practice. Participants are highly encouraged to come to class with specific asanas in mind for questioning, refining and clarifying. This class is open to all who have some regular yoga practice and is highly recommended for those who want to take their practice to the next level.
Cost: 3,000 baht for all sessions (8 week course)
Or 500 baht for drop-in
Dylan Bernstein had the fortune to be introduced to Yoga and Zen meditation in 1988. Over the last twenty years, he has called upon the practice to engage the body, still the mind and study the soul. Lifelong interests in Asian philosophy, religion and poetry have brought him to live in various Asian countries since 2001. During a year in India, he encountered Vijay Amar, who introduced him to Ashtanga Yoga and trained him to teach. Since then, he has been lucky enough to study under some of the world's senior Ashtanga teachers. Dylan loves teaching at Yoga Elements because of the genuine interest of the students and the great feeling in the studio. In addition to dynamic led classes, Dylan truly enjoys being able to share more subtle elements of the practice. More information is available on his web-site, www.stillnessinaction.com
